The GCA has noticed that many residents bag their recycling items in large plastic bags. Plastic bags are not allowed in the bins. When Rumpke collects items bagged in plastic, one or two things can happen:
- First, it is a good possibility the entire bag gets directly thrown in the trash and your items are NOT being recycled.
- Second, the bag ties up the machine and the items need to be individually checked to see if they are recyclable.
Items for recycling that had contained food should be washed and thrown directly into the bins. If you must bag them, you need to use paper.
