From the City of Columbus:
"If you are renovating the exterior of your home, be forewarned: permits may be required. If you replace your roof, your windows, your siding or you exterior doors, you have to have a permit from the City of the Columbus."
"Don’t trust what a contractor tells you about what permits are needed; call the City, as a resident found out while looking into replacing the front and back doors of their house. Three different reputable, big name contractors = three totally different stories about permits. When she called the City, she was informed that she did indeed need a $75 permit and that if she had the work done without a permit, not only would the contractor be fined $750, the homeowner would also be fined $750."
"If you have questions about exterior residential renovations and permits, contact Jim Stocksdale at (614)645-2264. Ignorance isn’t a defense in the eyes of the law."
