Don’t miss our first neighborhood meeting of 2017 on Tuesday, February 7 at The Church at Mill Run. Social time is at 6:30 p.m., followed by a very brief “business meeting” at 7 p.m. The balance of the meeting will feature a public service project. We will be writing Valentine messages/cards for the residents of Mill Run Gardens. (GCA will provide the materials.) Light refreshments will be served.
We will also be collecting materials at this meeting for Soldier Boxes that are being assembled by Buckeye Military Moms, Chapter 9 of the Blue Star Mothers of America. We will be collecting pages from the newspaper that have the funnies and/or crossword puzzles, pads of paper, pens, toothbrushes, and small toiletry items (travel sizes of shampoo, toothpaste, mouthwash, wipes, etc.). These items will be some of the things included in boxes that will be sent to our soldiers in combat zones later in February. Buckeye Military Moms sent out about 2,200 soldier boxes in 2016. A box will be set out for your donations.
If you have a son or daughter in the military and would like information about this group, check out their website at www.buckeyemilitarymoms.org. Also, if you have a family member or friend on duty in a combat zone, he/she can go on a list to receive a box. Just find out their APO address and tour dates, then contact the Moms through the previously listed website.
