Nirav Tolia, chief executive officer of Nextdoor, spoke with Kurt Wagner, senior editor for social media at Recode.net, on a recent episode of the podcast Recode Decode about launching the popular social network.
Mr. Tolia discussed growing up in Odessa, the west Texas town that inspired Friday Night Lights; his early years in Silicon Valley as a "surfing Yahoo"; his first tech startup, Epinions; and what motivated him to create what he describes in the interview as a "private social network for your neighborhood" where "your neighbors create all the content."
