This Earth Month, let your dog play "off-leash" at a Columbus dog park

A Border Collie running across a grassy field with a brown dog bone in its mouth.

Our dogs give us the perfect excuse to get outside and experience nature. So this Earth Month, why not treat them (and you) to an "off-leash" experience at one of Columbus's five dog parks?

Located around the city, these parks offer a variety of amenities, ranging from portable restrooms, water fountains, and picnic tables to on-site, accessible parking.

Amenities do vary by location, however, so consult the recreation and parks department website in advance of your visit.

Remember to "obey" the rules

Dogs are the only animals permitted in Columbus dog parks; visitors can have a maximum of two (2) dogs with them at any given time. Guests are expected to maintain "direct control" of their dog(s), and should remove them if they display aggressive behavior.

Everything you bring into the park (such as a water bowl or toy) should be taken with you when you leave. Children under the age of 13 cannot be in the park without adult supervision.

Still have questions? Check out the "Dog Park FAQ Sheet" published by the Columbus Recreation & Parks Department.
