Coming soon: A new movie theater for Mill Run

“The Movie Tavern in Mill Run is getting a second act,” write Gary Seman Jr. and Kevin Corvo of ThisWeekNews.com.

According to their article:

The ... theater on the outskirts of Hilliard is expected to reopen in early June under a new name, Movies 11 at Mill Run, 3773 Ridge Mill Drive in Columbus.

In the piece, Mr. Corvo and Mr. Seman discuss the new owners’ intention to keep the theater as a place to both catch a flick and grab a bite.

[Nalini Laveti, co-owner of Movies 11] said upgrades would include new seats in the theaters, as well as updated dining and bar areas.

...

The dine-in theaters, which would show first-run movies, would seat anywhere from 220 to 60, Laveti said.

And Glen residents can take heart in the fact that we didn’t lose our local movie theater due to lack of business.

“(The closure) [of the Movie Tavern on April 9] had nothing at all to do with performance ... ,” [Danny DiGiacomo, vice president of marketing for Southern Theaters, the New Orleans-based company that owns Movie Tavern] said [in April].

He said the closure came because of a failure to negotiate a lease renewal.
