We all love our Columbus parks. And right now, we have the opportunity to help Columbus Recreation & Parks win a $20,000 extreme “park makeover.”

Meet Me at the Park – an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association with support from Disney, ABC, ESPN, and Freeform – is offering a $20,000 grant to the city that receives the most write-in nominations by April 30. Nominations can be made at www.nrpa.org/beinspired.

A tweet sent by @ColsRecParks regarding the 2017 Meet Me at the Park $20,000 grant competition.

Now in its third year, Meet Me at the Park has helped deserving communities complete projects ranging from rehabbing soccer fields to providing the seed funding for community gardens – efforts which, according to NRPA, touched the lives of 200,000 people in 2016 alone.

This work, NRPA writes, has helped “connect kids with nature, inspire healthy living, and increase access to sports.”

So head over to www.nrpa.org/beinspired and nominate Columbus for Meet Me at the Park’s $20,000 “park makeover” grant. And while you’re there, bookmark the page, because you can vote once a day, every day through April 30.

Still on the fence? As an added bonus, everyone who casts a vote will be entered for the chance to win a tablet. This tablet will be outfitted for outdoor use, so you can take it with you on all of your explorations.

About the National Recreation and Parks Association

Since 1965, the NRPA has worked “to advance parks, recreation, and environmental conservation efforts that enhance the quality of life for all people,” with the goal of ensuring “that everyone [has] access to parks and recreation in sustainable communities."

NRPA targets its work on three distinct focus areas, or “pillars”:

Conservation
Protecting open space, connecting children to nature, and engaging communities in conservation practices.

Health & Wellness
Leading the nation to improved health and wellness through parks and recreation.

Social Equity
Ensuring all people have access to the benefits of local parks and recreation.
