Summer ‘17 | Dive into one of Columbus’s outdoor swimming pools

A header image announcing The Glen's Summer'17 series of articles.

You have a lot of choices when it comes to deciding where to swim this summer. Last week, we talked about Hilliard’s two municipal pools – the Hilliard Family Aquatic Center and Hilliard East Municipal Pool – which are great local options for Glen families.

Today in Summer ‘17, we’re shifting gears to Columbus proper and the plethora of swimming pools available to city residents.

Columbus Recreation and Parks operates eight outdoor swimming pools – Dodge, Driving Park, Glenwood, Lincoln, Marion Franklin, Maryland, Tuttle, and Windsor.

Outdoor Pool
Daily Hours

1:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.*

*Dodge and Tuttle locations are open until 7:30 p.m.

The Tuttle and Dodge swimming pools will be open for Memorial Day weekend (May 27-29) before launching their official summer season on June 3. The remaining six outdoor swimming pools will open for the summer on June 12.

Each outdoor swimming pool will operate daily from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with the exception of the Dodge and Tuttle locations, which will stay open until 7:30 p.m.

Memberships vs. Leisure Cards

Per-Visit Admission

$0.50 per person

A Leisure Card (or pool membership) is required to enter a Columbus outdoor swimming pool.

Columbus residents must have either a pool membership or Leisure Card to visit one of the city’s outdoor swimming pools.

Leisure Card holders pay $0.50 per person, per visit, to a Columbus pool. For residents who choose to purchase a pool membership, this per-visit admission fee is waived. Pool memberships also cover admission to the Columbus Aquatic Center, 1160 Hunter Avenue, during the winter.

Pool Memberships

Individuals
Juniors (17 & under) – $20
Adults (18-49) – $25
Seniors (50+) – $20

Families
Family of 4 – $70
Additional – $9/each*

*A maximum of four additional family members can be added to a family membership.

Pool memberships are sold at individual and family rates. Individual memberships are $20 for “juniors” (age 17 and younger), $25 for adults (age 18-49), and $20 for seniors (age 50 and above).

Family memberships are $70 and include up to four immediate household family members; additional family members, up to a maximum of four additional members, can be added to a family membership for $9 each.

A Columbus pool membership is valid through the end of the year in which it is purchased.

Helpful Tip

You don’t need a Leisure Card to obtain a pool membership, but you do need one to participate in other Columbus Recreation and Parks programming. So, even if you purchase a pool membership, it’s still beneficial to register for a Leisure Card.

On Friday, Summer '17 will be talking about spraygrounds and other "open fountains" scattered throughout central Ohio. But until then, why not check out our previous posts?

So far in the series, we've covered Hilliard's two municipal pools and the Columbus Leisure Card. And we have a lot more on deck. Stay tuned.

Also, we'd love it if you'd sign up for our email mailing list. You'll be among the first to know about Glen updates, community news, and changes to the trash collection schedule.
