Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just out to spoil a good walk, an afternoon of golf is an excellent excuse to be outdoors on beautiful, summer days – and one that doesn’t require any yard work.
So for our next entry in Summer ‘17, we’re talking all things golf – from individual courses to camps and tournaments for the kids. And with so much to cover, we’re splitting this post across two days.
First up: The golf courses maintained by the City of Columbus.
Choose from six beautiful golf courses
Columbus Municipal Golf, a division of Columbus Recreation and Parks (CRPD), oversees six golf courses spread throughout the city. Each of these beautiful courses – Airport, Champions, Mentel Memorial, Raymond Memorial, Turnberry, and Wilson Road – offers 18 holes, with the exception of the Wilson Road Golf Course, which has nine holes.
Golfers can take advantage of a variety of amenities at each course, including top-of-the-line pro shops, driving ranges, private or group lessons, and league play. For those planning celebrations and other events, the courses also offer banquet facilities.
Whether you visit Raymond Memorial, the oldest course in the Columbus Municipal Golf system, having opened in 1954, or drive to the Airport course and watch as planes taxi and take off, you’re sure to have a day to remember.
